74% of the world has access to clean, usable, safely managed water. Within the United States, 97% of people have access to serviceable water. However, in Uganda, only 18% of people have access to safely managed water. It is this striking difference in percentages that enticed Joshua Kurtz to create The Ayin Project (TAP).

My internship with The Ayin Project taught me to take a real-world problem and think critically to try and solve it. When I first heard about the different case studies involving the lack of clean water in Uganda, I was shocked.

Like stepping into an icy river, my first experience with The Ayin Project hit hard—intense, overwhelming, and unforgettable. But as I immersed myself in their work, I found clarity, purpose, and a deep connection to something greater. This is more than a cause. It’s a call to action—to redefine what it means to help, and to empower local leaders to create sustainable solutions for water access around the world.
