The Ayin Project

Updated: Feb 3, 2023

Welcome to The Ayin Project - TAP! Our mission is simple - we want to create greater water accessibility in developing countries. We strive to do this by implementing sustainable solutions and empowering local collaborators. You might be asking, “Why another organization working on water accessibility issues in developing countries?” The answer is simple - because people still lack access to clean water in our world today.

A 2022 United Nations report states there is still a need for increased efforts to meet Sustainable Development Goal 6 - Ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030. With current efforts, this goal will not be reached (United Nations, 2022, pg. 13). The report suggests a “4X increase in the pace of progress” is needed to achieve this goal. At the current pace, 1.6 billion people will still lack access to safely managed drinking water, 2.8 billion people will lack safely managed sanitation, and 1.9 billion people will still lack basic hand hygiene facilities by 2030 (United Nations, 2022, pg.13, 38-29). Therefore, a more sustainable effort is needed.

The Ayin Project was established to be an active organization in the continued fight to see all people have access to safely managed drinking water. We believe this fight requires a holistic approach whereby industry professionals, educators, researchers, innovators, community members, and governing officials must all collaboratively work together to meet this goal.

As the African Proverb says, “If you want to go fast go alone, but if you want to go far go together.” This Sustainable Development Goal cannot be achieved quickly nor alone. It requires dedicated cross-sector collaborative efforts to develop safely managed water, sanitation, and hygiene systems in communities of need. Our team is committed to bringing what we have to the table to assist in this global effort.

As The Ayin Project moves into 2023, we are anticipating great things from the partnerships, conferences, educational endeavors, and projects currently being developed for this upcoming year.
