Joshua Kurtz: Founder and CEO of
The Ayin Project

Joshua Kurtz has dedicated his life to sustainable water development, driven by a passion that took root on his first international trip to East Africa in 2004. As an intern with Global Outreach Developments International, he was introduced to the realities of community development work—an experience that would shape the trajectory of his career.

A pivotal moment came in 2008 when Josh, alongside his father, conducted water tests in Uganda and discovered dangerously high levels of nitrates in a community water source. This eye-opening experience ignited a deep determination to understand and address water quality challenges in developing regions. He embarked on a journey to gain expertise in water testing, well drilling, pump repair, and water system management.

As Josh continued his work across East Africa, he witnessed a recurring and troubling pattern—many water sources were broken or non-functional. This raised critical questions about the long-term sustainability of existing well-drilling and water accessibility projects. Seeking deeper insight, Josh pursued a Master of Science in Sustainability, equipping himself with the knowledge and tools to develop a more holistic and lasting approach to water accessibility in underserved communities.

In 2022, Josh founded The Ayin Project with a vision to focus on sustainable water development. Under his leadership, The Ayin Project is committed to creating effective, long-term solutions for water access that empower local communities and ensure the longevity of water systems

.Beyond his work in sustainable development, Josh finds joy in his family. He cherishes the experience of watching his children grow, explore their unique talents, and discover their own paths in life.

Josh’s journey is a testament to the power of curiosity, perseverance, and a deep commitment to creating meaningful change in the world. Through The Ayin Project, his passion continues to drive forward impactful solutions for water security and sustainability.
